Bruins sign Urho Vaakanainen and Martin Bakos
In the past few days, the Bruins have announced that they signed defenseman Urho Vaakanainen to a 3-year entry-level contract with an annual cap hit of $925K, plus bonuses; and forward Martin Bakos to a 1-year, 2-way contract with a cap hit of $700K at the NHL level.
Vaakanainen is 19 years old, 6-foot-1, 185-pounds, a Joensuu, Finland native, that was selected by the Bruins in the 1st round (18th overall pick) in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. He spent the 2017-18 season playing for SaiPa in the Finnish Liiga, scoring 4 goals and recording 7 assists for 11 points, and had a +8 rating in 43 games.
Bakos is 28 years old, 6-foot-2, 194-pounds, a native of Spisska Nova Ves, Slovakia, that spent the 2017-18 season with Liberec Bili Tygri HC of the Czech Hockey League, scoring 14 goals and recording 26 assists for 40 points in 52 games.
